This May, James River High School hosted a Relay For Life event that I was very proud to attend. For those of you who do not know, Relay For Life is an organized community walk event that is held to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Each year too many lives are lost to this terrible disease, but fortunately Relay For Life provides hope that one day we will live in a world without cancer. At this event I was able to meet members of our community whose lives have been affected by cancer in some way. Every person I met had a unique story on how cancer has affected their life, but all were instilled with the same sense of passion towards finding a cure. While the event may be over, the American Cancer Society will not rest until a cure is found. I encourage you all to go online to relayforlife.org/ and learn more about how you can help. I am proud to live in a community where students take the initiative to create positive change in the world, like the students at James River High School.
