The Oath

A New Beginning For Me...

A Fresh Start For The Midlothian District...

I was so honored to be sworn in Thursday at the Investiture Ceremony. Surrounded by my family, who have been so supportive throughout this journey, my friends, fellow Board Members and Constitutional Officers - I look forward to serving as we start the new year.

A beautiful ceremony, a humbling experience, and a new beginning for all of us. I feel so very fortunate to serve this district and Chesterfield County that started with your support.  I will continue to ask of you, seek out and provide opportunities for you so I am able to listen as I serve - to ensure your voice and the voice of all of my constituents - are heard, understood and represented with integrity.

I am blessed this year's end to have had the opportunity to meet so many new friends and look forward to the New Year!

The Oath for Office

Haley do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all of the duties incumbent upon me, as of the 1st of January 2016 to December 31st, 2019, according to the best of my ability, so help me God."

Reaching Out to Seniors

Chesterfield_Heights_collage.jpgHad the great pleasure of visiting with my Dad and his friends recently...

What a great group of folks that remain active and very interested in their community.  My sincere thanks to Chesterfield Heights for their hospitality and to Glen Sturtevant, candidate for Senate who joined me for the visit.

I would encourage folks to reach out to our seniors and provide them the opportunity to become informed about where candidates stand on local issues.  Candidates should understand what's important to our seniors and what their priorities are.

Promoting wellness through physical activity starts early

A brisk walk on a crisp morning...

What a great way to start the day!

My morning started the other day with a Bike Walk to Bon Air Elementary School.

We gathered in the heart of Bon Air and while we walked and others biked, it was with renewed energy and excitement that "kick-started" our day.  What a great way to start the day - whether young or old - it was time well spent with each other.

Our shout out for the day goes to Girl Scout Troop No. 339 who organized the walk with the support of parents/PTA and local sponsors who offered coffee, hot cider, and tips on how to get to our destination safely.

More tips on biking and walking will be available at the Bike & Walk Safety Fair on Oct. 24th, at Bon Air Elementary, from 11 am - 1 pm.  Just bring your bike and your helmet - of course!

Be safe and stay well!

Giving Back...

Some say..."you get what you give"...

While others say "Service above Self"...

I'm a firm believer in giving back. Growing up my parents instilled in us that you get back what you give...in everything you do.  I'm proud to be a part of a community that gives with such generous hearts.

I attended the 27th Annual Magnificent Midlothian Food Festival recently - a very special annual event that was held at Westchester Commons.  The event is sponsored by local Rotary Clubs of; Midlothian, Brandermill, Chester, Huguenot Trail and James River with proceeds going to Families of the Wounded Fund and local charities.  I will say it was magnificent as promised with wonderful food and entertainment, but what stood out the most was the "neighborhood block-party" atmosphere.  This carried through the entire evening and with it the friendships - old friendships renewed while new friendships started - and the laughter that remained in the air long after we were gone.  We thank the Rotary Clubs for their dedication and commitment to "Service above Self," giving back to our community and...

We thank the generous hearts!

Community Outreach

Pictures say a thousand words...

I know you've seen us throughout the community.  I wanted to share a small sample of the places we've been...the people we've seen.  We work hard but I think the laughter in our eyes and the smiles on our face says it all don't you?!

I was recently quoted as saying...

"We need someone we can trust to serve with integrity and always work to represent the values and ideals of those who live here"

I truly believe that and do everything I can every day to reach out to folks and listen as they explain what's important to them; their families; their businesses.  I know I've said this before but it is the best part of my day these days and I thank those who take the time to stop and chat.

to my fellow candidates for their ongoing support and the volunteers who work tirelessly to help us reach out to the community...

Thank you!

Reception From Senator John Watkins

To The Honorable Senator John WatkinsCapture_RC_collage.PNG

Thank You...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Honorable Senator Watkins for an evening reception held recently at the historical Bellgrade Plantation, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. It is both an honor and privilege to have a statesman of such caliber from the Virginia State Senate support me in such an extraordinary manner.

I can't thank John enough for his support and his faith in my ability to lead this district.  With almost sixty guests in attendance to support our efforts, I cannot tell you how humbling an experience that all of this has been for me.

My thanks go out to all of those who attended Thursday evening, to those who continue their ongoing support in so many ways and those who are just reaching out.  Please know how much I appreciate your efforts, know how much I appreciate your support and most importantly...know that I could not do this without each and every one of you.

Thank you,

We Thank Our First Responders

A significant way to start a morning of such significance...

I can think of no better way to start the day than to thank those who serve to protect and keep us safe.  This morning I was able to reach out to our Police and Firefighters to thank them for the service they provide to our community.  With the coffee just brewed, our donuts brought smiles - I can’t tell you how much they appreciated our recognition of their service as they put themselves in harm’s way every day, as just “part of the job”.   If you see our First Responders working throughout the community, take the time to say “thank you”…it is well worth the effort and the smile returned.

September 11th, We remember....

If you ask anyone over the age of 25 where they were on September 11, 2001 they will tell you a story…with the large.jpgclear recall of yesterday.  They remember….

Today, on September 11th, my son Alex turns 18.  He was 4 then.  I remember how completely consumed this country and the entire world was as we tried to wrap our head around what had happened that day and why.  I remember…

Alex was waiting when I got home eyes bright with wonder and excitement, a little boy on his birthday.  My thoughts turned as I focused on him, and my priorities shifted to that little boy.  With heavy hearts from the day, we celebrated his birthday-sheltered for a moment in time.  Still, we remembered…

We remember those taken from us that day, we pray for their families and friends.  We draw strength from their bravery, courage from their valor, and will never forget what they gave.  We thank first responders as the serve to protect, and put our lives first every day.  We thank those who fight for the freedoms we share and pray for lives lost in that fight.   And…we remember…

Labor Day at the Pool with Family and Friends

The Last day of Summer....

What a way to spend the day with family and friends - grillin' and chillin' at the pool.

I want to thank my neighbors at Queensmill for sharing their Labor Day celebration with me.  Perfect weather, great food, conversation, lots of laughter, fun, smiles and...corn hole!  It just isn't a real celebration without corn hole...

I will say what created the most excitement and certainly was the hot topic of discussion...back to school!!  I'm not sure who was more excited about that.  The parents, the children...or maybe...was it excitement I saw in those young eyes, the anticipation of the unknown, or both?  Have a great school year everyone!

First Day of School

Thank youFlag.jpg

Enjoy your day, this Labor Day Holiday weekend...

As we celebrate Labor Day and summer slips easily into fall, I would like to take the opportunity to thank those of you I’ve had the pleasure of meeting these warm summer weeks for your hospitality, thoughts, and so many words of encouragement and support.  It helps guide my efforts and keeps me focused as we move closer to the November 3rd election.

The First Day of excitement!!

As the first day of school draws closer, I am excited for close to 5,000 of our youngest students who enter kindergarten this year, and our High School Seniors who will graduate in June.  I extend my best wishes to all our children for a safe and successful school year.  My thoughts and prayers go out to our teachers as they educate our children, and the parents who provide support for them each and every day – from that hug on the way out the door, to a late night helping with homework – my very best to all of you.

As our schedules continue to be full and there’s never enough time in the day, take time to pause and enjoy the moment…it’s here now, gone tomorrow.
